Kaohsiung, Taiwan (May 5th, 2015) –Horizon Yachts is pleased to announce the launch of a new E78 open bridge motoryacht for the U.S. market that features a three stateroom layout and an innovative exterior design element: a hydraulic flybridge hard top that lowers the overall height of the boat from 28’11” to 20’5”. This flybridge hard top design, which was created and implemented by Horizon’s in-house naval architects and engineers, utilizes a custom hydraulic cylinder system to lower and raise the hard top in 15 minutes; the design also allows the radar arch to fold down separate of the hard top if needed. The E78 successfully completed her sea trial in Kaohsiung and is scheduled to deliver to the United States in mid-May as an available yacht for sale.

“At Horizon, we pride ourselves in providing creative solutions to the design and usability issues that our clients face,” said Roger Sowerbutts, Director of Horizon Yacht USA. “We understand that many who boat up North in the summer, specifically in the Great Lakes area, are restricted in their cruising locations, and in the size yacht they can enjoy, due to fixed bridge heights. This location-specific design we created for the E78, with her unprecedented hydraulic hard top, was our answer to that problem, and she retains features that will appeal to boaters in the more southern areas such as Florida and the Bahamas as well.”

This new Horizon E78 motoryacht was designed to appeal to Great Lakes boaters, yet her three en-suite stateroom layout, which includes a full-beam King Master stateroom, Queen VIP stateroom, and Twin Guest stateroom, is also suited to various other boating regions in the U.S. On the main deck, her fully-equipped galley is centrally located between the aft main salon and forward pilothouse with a full helm; the open flybridge provides a secondary helm for open-air piloting, as well as a place to entertain with a wet bar and dinette. The hydraulic Hi/Lo swim platform, which extends the E78 to 84 feet in total length, offers a spot for water sports fun or a place to store water toys.

Equipped with twin CAT C32 1600HP engines, this new Horizon E78 motoryacht cruises at 19 knots and reaches a top speed of 25 knots at full load; she also includes zero speed stabilizers, bow and stern thrusters, Maretron monitoring system, Hamann sanitary treatment system, and more.
