FORT LAUDERDALE, Lauderdale Marine Center (LMC) has appointed marine industry veteran George Whitehouse as its new Director of Business Development and William Alejandro as Controller.

In his new role at the nation’s largest yacht repair facility, Whitehouse is responsible for developing and executing comprehensive and targeted business development practices and strategic marketing plans including defining target customers and developing sales strategies. He brings with him many years of industry experience and knowledge of various aspects of yachting and has served as a mentor to many of the industry’s leading large yacht captains.

Most recently, Whitehouse was director of business development with MTN Satellite Communications in Miramar, Fla. and vice president of business development and sales for Rybovich in West Palm Beach, Fla.  Whitehouse has captained multiple superyachts including the 70 meter (230ft) Oceanfast M/Y Floridian. In addition, he has managed several complex yacht builds and refits and marina and harbor construction projects.

Whitehouse currently maintains both USCG 1600 and MCA 3000 GRT licenses and is a graduate of State University College at Cortland, New York.

William Alejandro has been appointed as Controller.  Prior to joining LMC Alejandro served as Chief Financial Officer of Amzak Capital Management of Boca Raton and Brightstar Corporation of Miami.

Located in Fort Lauderdale on the New River, visible from I-95 and close to Fort Lauderdale/Hollywood International Airport, LMC is a 50-acre facility consisting of a boatyard, marina and marine service center providing a complete offering of marine-related repair and services.  It accommodates boats up to 200 feet with 27 covered sheds and 130 wet slips, has three marine travel lifts with haul-out capacity up to 300 tons and features 10,000 linear feet of dockage. LMC’s business model includes leasing work space and commercial office space to approximately 60 on-site contractors providing various marine-related services such as fiberglass repair, electrical, painting, engine service, hydraulics, navigation and electronics, carpentry, mechanical, metal fabrication and welding.
