Yacht Supply Company Celebrates Fundraiser Achievement

Fort Lauderdale, FL: National Marine Suppliers, a premier yacht supplier and logistical support group, is pleased to announce the funds generated from our annual Poker Run and Customer Appreciation Party during the past four years.  All of our combined efforts have enabled a donation of $250,003! The Florida Breast Cancer Foundation, a statewide organization, allocates the donations. They use 100% of the money within our community in Broward County, to directly fund the Breast and Cervical Cancer Early Detection Program that is part of the Broward Health Department. Russell Silverman, Executive Director of the Foundation, said “The money NMS has donated up to now has helped more than 8,500 low-income people older than 50 get free diagnostic procedures including mammograms and, if diagnosed, get free aftercare. This money will extend the program a couple of years and we expect that 40,000 to 50,000 people will be helped with these funds.” With support from industry sponsors, our customers, and a HUGE National Marine team effort, we feel honored & privileged to have hosted these amazing events as well as provide assistance for a cause that affects so many near and dear to us throughout the superyacht community! We would like to say special thanks to all of our Sponsors and supporters who made it possible!

“We have dedicated ourselves as a company and put so much energy into it for a great cause,” said NMS owner and president Dean duToit, as he unveiled the large check and announced the amount. “We are a supply company, not an event company, but we put our heart and soul into and put on a great event, and the industry gives back.”

Mary duToit included, “The money was raised from donations during the annual Poker Run and at the Annual Customer Appreciation Party for the Fort Lauderdale International Boat Show. Other industry people have made separate and generous donations as well. The whole industry did this,” she said. “We’re making a difference.”

About The Florida Breast Cancer Foundation: The Florida Breast Cancer Foundation (FBCF) was founded by three Miami women in 1993. Originally named The South Florida Breast Cancer Coalition, the organization began as a nonprofit, grassroots organization dedicated to ending breast cancer through advocacy, education, and research. With the introduction of the specialty End Breast Cancer license plate in 2002, a second organization was formed – the Florida Breast Cancer Coalition Research Foundation - created to receive the funds from the sale of the plate. A few years later our official name changed to the Florida Breast Cancer Foundation, but our mission and vision remain the same.
