In an industry with a packed calendar of events, The Pinmar Golf shines brightly as one of the best. Now entering its 29th edition, over 320 golfers are expected to descend on Mallorca’s Golf Son Gual followed by 800 VIP guests for the black-tie social extravaganza. Leading supplier of superyacht coatings, Awlgrip, has lent its Condor Sponsorship to the Saturday night Prize-giving and Gala Dinner for an incredible 18 years.
Jörg Hauer, Global Superyacht Key Account Manager for AkzoNobel, explains why the event is so important to Awlgrip, “The Pinmar Golf is a fixed event in our calendar. It’s a success year after year after year - just look at the attendee list - and as soon as it’s over we’re already looking forward to the next one. The charity element is something that holds vast appeal for us. Every year, the event raises money for charities such as the Royal National Lifeboat Institution, Sail 4 Cancer and OK Prosthetics, raising over €80,000 in the last year alone. It’s a proud association for Awlgrip.”
Having been heavily involved in the event from the outset, Awlgrip has witnessed first-hand The Pinmar Golf’s evolution over the years. “Each event is bigger, better and more vibrant than the one before,” says Jörg, “and the occasion reflects nicely the values that everyone associates with Awlgrip – quality, innovation and captivating colour. The 2017 edition sees a number of carefully-considered venue changes including the location for the Prize-giving, Gala Dinner and After Party - namely the beautiful historic finca of Son Amar. “Son Amar is a cultural institution in Mallorca, hosting world-famous dinner shows for more than 50 years, so the decision to hold the Gala Dinner and After Party here is a sign of great success for Pinmar and the tournament. That’s why we’re delighted to be extending Awlgrip’s sponsorship to encompass the After Party which this time features Faithless DJ Sister Bliss.”
Naturally for a business of its calibre, Awlgrip is involved in plenty of events around the world, yet it has a particular fondness for this annual golf tournament.
