Chris Atkinson to leave GYG
GYG plc (GYG), the market leading superyacht painting, supply and maintenance company, today announces that Chris Atkinson, Director and Founder of ACA Marine is due to leave GYG with immediate effect. Chris’ decision to step back from the Group allows him to pursue his own interests as an independent industry consultant in the superyacht refit sector.
Chris founded ACA Marine in 1997 and developed the business into one of the leading fairing, painting and finishing companies in the industry. Since the acquisition by GYG in March 2017 Chris has been instrumental in the reorganisation of the group’s commercial activities in France and the expansion of its refit operations in La Ciotat
Following the successful integration of ACA Marine into GYG’s global operations, ACA Marine will continue to trade in France and carry out bespoke projects in Europe. With the new developments in La Ciotat, Pinmar will now be the dominant brand in this location, investing and working alongside La Ciotat Shipyard, MB92 and its other partners. These advancements will continue to strengthen the Group’s third main Mediterranean Refit hub alongside Palma and Barcelona.
Remy Millott, Chief Executive of GYG plc, commented:
“Chris has done a tremendous job in founding and operating the ACA Marine business over the last 20 years. I would like to thank Chris for his support and hard work in transitioning the business so smoothly into GYG since 2017 and managing the high-quality work of the team which is recognised by all our key clients. I am pleased that Chris is continuing his career in the superyacht refit sector as an independent sales and project consultant and I wish him every success in this new venture.”
