West Nautical is fast becoming a key player in the established Yacht Brokerage and Management sector. The company’s next move has been to bring in James’ wide industry experience to develop and grow a new culture and strategic direction within West Nautical. This will enable the company to build on a new sales and charter model that fits better with today’s Clients.

In a career spanning nearly 30 years, introducing people to sailing and the sea - from one of the youngest Superyacht Captains and then Yacht Broker – James has been involved in the sales of large sailboats up to 55m including classics, Perini, C&N, Alloy Yachts and motoryachts notably from Feadship, Moonen, Trinity, Benetti and Heesen. He has extensive experience in refit and new builds and has developed marketing strategies for production yachts and shipyards.

James said “I am excited by this opportunity and particularly like the culture of West Nautical. I see my role as team leader in a forward thinking company without the constraints of traditional yacht brokerage.

In the industry now, asking prices are being hit hard and rewards are less and fewer. The combination of high introductory commissions and low purchase prices means unhappy Shipyards and Sellers. Our modern marketing procedures aim not only to support the values of the yachts, but also to reach our target buyers more effectively.

Creating, controlling and supporting a yacht’s online entity is the only way to stop our iconic yachts being sold like used cars and to keep our owners investing in their ultimate luxury.

My priority is building the sales team and attracting both senior and junior sale and charter brokers to the team. The company has had incredible success in the last 18 months and we are looking to build on that”.

Managing Director Geoff Moore said “We are thrilled to welcome James to the team, bringing his vast experience in the superyacht sector to West Nautical and leading the department into the future, with a different objective and view on the traditional brokerage model, which suits our forward thinking objectives as a company perfectly.”

One of the first priorities within the company that James and the Brokerage team will be working on is the exciting sale of West Nautical’s most successful charter yacht, the 60m Benetti St. David and the new listings of 2 Sunseeker’s, a 2011 80Y and 2015 86Y. James has already started on looking at ways in which the company can market these particular yachts and generate interest as a result of his plans.

Andrey Lomakin CEO of West Nautical said “By providing a boutique brokerage setup, with offices in France, Russia and the UK, we offer a very personal service to our clients and this is what stands us apart from our competitors. Now is the perfect time to have James join West Nautical, this will now see James lead the way in developing a new exciting direction for our sales and charter brokerage departments, which will in turn generate new leads and business for the company”
