The Great Britain Sailing team flew to Sheboygan on the 9th September 2017 to the Blind Sailing World Championships. Over the 5 racing days, the 4 teams came together to win an overall Gold and defended their world title.

Here at the MSA and Viking, we have been keeping up to date with the day by day bulletins and couldn’t be prouder of all 4 teams. They truly deserve this after all the hard work and effort they put into training.

Chairman & Founder, Dieter Jaenicke said, “It has been an honour to sponsor the GB Blind Sailing Team. I’m so glad I was watching the news and managed to catch Catherine Westbrook’s interview.”

It was following a recent appearance on local news programme BBC South East Today, that local sailor Catherine Westbrook's appointment to the British Blind Sailing Team, caught the attention of our Chairman & Founder, Dieter Jaenicke.

That very evening, a swift conversation with company Directors and Managers was held and through mutual associates of ours and Catherine’s, were contacted. Upon meeting with Catherine, she was found to be as every bit enthusiastic and interested in the Maritime Industry as we were in her sailing exploits. After some encouraging talks with the team manager it was decided that Viking Recruitment and The Maritime Skills Academy would sponsor the funds needed to sponsor the team’s kit for the World Championships in the United States.

We look forward to the continued sponsorship with Catherine for the next 12 months, as she takes on the ambassadorial role for Viking Recruitment and The Maritime Skills Academy, by promoting all things seafaring. This will be especially prevalent in our work with local schools and youth groups in encouraging young people to look to the sea for leisure, work and careers.
