Savage Lighting launches LED Lighting Control System with PWM Dimming < Back

By Savage Marine Ltd

Savage Marine Ltd, leading specialists in the design and manufacture of lighting solutions for the superyacht and marine leisure industry, has extended its Zeus Technology product line with BOLT 320-P — a fully integrated lighting control system for the control and dimming of LEDs using PWM (Pulse Width Modulation).

Much like its sibling, the successful BOLT 320 introduced in 2018, it has been designed to simplify LED lighting integration on board. It dims and controls LED lights, supports emergency lighting, external I/O triggers and provides real time scene and mood settings. It has been specifically designed for the marine industry and in response to market demands.

John Nolan, Business Development Manager at Savage Lighting explains, “We saw an increasing demand for easy to install, easy to configure and easy to operate LED lighting control systems that can operate on PWM for smaller yachts and motor boats. The BOLT 320-P has taken the proven technology and successful platform of the BOLT 320 and answered that market need.”

The BOLT 320-P is supplied with four PWM industry standard dimming channels. Direct connection to LEDs is then possible via PWM compatible LED drivers - some light fixtures already have built-in PWM compatible drivers or alternatively, separate third party compatible drivers can be used. Via the drivers, the system runs off the incoming DC supply with a range allowance of 12v to 28v and there is an additional input for an emergency supply. Should the system experience a loss of the normal supply, it will automatically switch to the emergency supply and to the preprogrammed emergency lighting “scene”. The system can support up to 6 Zeus Connect Switches per controller (multiple controllers can be used as part of one system), connected to the system using a simple low voltage 3 wire bus system.

“What’s great about the BOLT range of lighting controllers is that you don’t need to be a lighting or engineering expert to install them. All configuration of the system is accomplished using a simple web-based user interface which can be accessed from a standard web browser using the in-built Wi-Fi or via a conventional ethernet connection. And if you are an expert in this field, the control modules for integration with third-party control systems such as AMX, Crestron, Control and Savant are also available.” Nolan confirms.

The BOLT 320-P is the second product from Savage Lighting’s BOLT line of products from their Zeus Technology range of lighting solutions. All products within the range are developed in-house either exclusively by Savage Lighting or in collaboration with leading technology partners. The Zeus Technology Partner behind the BOLT range is Crest Systems who specialise in technical system management and consultancy for the superyacht industry. They provide design, management and support for AV, IT, Communications and Lighting systems for both new builds and refits.

“The BOLT 320-P is an evolution of what has proved to be an incredibly popular and successful product. Now that we can also support PWM, we have really made this an inclusive product that supports market needs across a wide range of boat sizes and types. Boat builders, electrical contractors and existing owners can add a fully integrated lighting control system without the need to pull additional cables and change the onboard electrical wiring and set-up.” Nick Cranston, Director Crest Systems.
