James Stockdale, founder and CEO of Pinpoint Works, has always been a motivated and ambitious individual. It's no surprise in an industry that has given him endless opportunities, he’s continually finding ways to improve himself, the crew with whom he works, and the way yachting professionals around the world communicate.

The last few years, James has been wearing two hats: super yacht Captain and entrepreneur. While it hasn’t been easy, the journey has helped build a strong team both onboard and on shore. The juggling has paid off.

This year he’s being rewarded for this passion for this growth and improvement, both personally and professionally – James been nominated for ACREW’s Yacht Captain (3000gt) of the Year and Entrepreneur of the Year. (You can vote for James here and here.)

On his nomination for Captain of the Year, James has said, “A good yacht cannot be operated or maintained by an individual, it requires a team effort from an excellent crew. I believe in encouraging the progression and development of our crew onboard and that the key ingredient to building an excellent crew is hard work and leading by example.”

Pinpoint Works, a web and mobile app for work list and project management, was created from James’s own frustration of trying to manage a warranty list in Excel for an 80m new build a few years ago.  

“Pinpoint Works is now being used by crews, shipyards, surveyors and contractors not just for the warranty period, but during construction, operation and shipyard periods. We are proud to have created a versatile platform that is being utilised by all corners of our industry, including some of the largest yachts currently under construction,” said James.
